April Ross
April Ross has won more than one Olympic medal. Ross is among the few female players of beach volleyball to be able to do so. Ross will compete in Tokyo for her third Olympic medal with Alix Klineman who is a first time Olympian. But more than that, Ross is aiming to capture her first Olympic gold. At 39 she could have her last shot. Her optimism is that she can achieve top honors. If we do our top or play well I feel like we'll win the gold medal Ross said via NBC Boston. Also, I am going put my faith in a touch of good luck. Ross is born in the year 1982. Costa Mesa California where she resided with her parents and her sister. In addition to competing in various sport, she also attended Newport Harbor High School. Her pre-athletic career comprised indoor volleyball as well as basketball, track and running. She stood out however during this game. The college bio says that she played outside of the hitter, middle blocker and setter in her volleyball playing career at high school. She was named the Gatorade National Circle of Champions Player of the year in 1999, for her performance. She also captured the award in 2000. Orange County Athlete of the Year trophy for volleyball. Ross and Klineman formed their partnership in 2017, however, Ross had been a beach-scene star for years before. She actually won multiple major tournaments in the past with two different partners. one of which is a volleyball icon. From 2007 until 2013 she was in a partnership by Jennifer Kessy, who is now her coach. Ross, Kessy's fellow teammate who took home the title of world champion with Kessy in 2009 was also significant on the an international level. They were awarded a silver medal during the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. Misty May Treanor and Kerri Jennings, the legend team which won the 2012 Olympic Games in London, beat them out to win the gold. Ross Jennings became Walsh Jennings partner in fate when Maytreanor retired. They both went on to take home the bronze beach volleyball medal at the Rio Olympics 2016. They were joined by Walsh Jennings. Ross was a player for the Trojans at USC during her the college years following her graduation from the high school she attended. Her time in the Trojans' ranks was an impressive one. She was an All-American as well as Pac-10 freshman of the year in the year 2000, a young freshman. She was also an integral player to help the Trojans reach it to the Final Four. In her sophomore year, she experienced a devastating personal loss but still managed to repeat as an All-American. Through her last two years within the team, she guided the Trojans to the summit winning consecutive national championships. As an individual, she cemented her place in the history books by winning the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. This award was given to the most outstanding female volleyball players at colleges across the United States. Ross had been an international studies major at USC. Margie Ross was never able to see her daughter's rise to the beach volleyball spotlight. In 2001 when Ross was in her sophomore year at USC her mother passed away from breast cancer. However, she keeps her mother in her heart. Margie is a beach lover as well as in her everyday life, is still a source of inspiration for her.
